— Authorities say a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday night, killing a woman and wounding 12 others.
Police say a motive has not yet been determined.
Authorities said they have identified the gunman as James Holmes, 26.
Holmes was a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the first person to be identified as a suspect in the shooting.
Aurora Police Chief Jon Belmar said the gunman fired from inside the Century Aurora 16 theater, which was located on the University campus.
He said he did not know whether the gunman was armed.
The suspect is also being sought by police in Colorado, where he has been charged with a felony count of attempted murder, according to the Denver Police Department.
Holmes is being held in the Denver jail on $25 million bail, Belmar told reporters.
Auroras first shooting suspect was identified as James “Jared” Holmes, a student from Aurora, who is believed to have lived in the area, Belmarch said.
Holms had previously been charged by police with assault and battery and other offenses, according the Denver Post.
Police say Holmes had been arrested on two prior occasions in Colorado in connection with a domestic violence incident, according.
He was also charged in 2012 with felony stalking and domestic violence related charges in Colorado.
