When the first moviegoers come to your theatre, you have to pay for your tickets

The best way to avoid going to a movie theatre is to buy tickets for your movie theatre.
That is the conclusion of a new report from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and Research (OISEER).
The report, called “The Power of Movies in Ontario,” examines the effects of moviegoing on the province’s economy.
It concludes that “moviegoing is a critical element of our province’s economic growth and our ability to attract and retain skilled labour.”
In Ontario, the report says, more than 80 per cent of the province is served by a movie theater, with more than 30,000 screens located within its borders.
“The availability of movie tickets has the capacity to increase demand and help boost revenues and job creation,” said a release from the institute, which also said that “provincial governments and the provincial governments of all levels should work to make the filmgoing experience more convenient and accessible for the public.”
“It is important that Ontario’s economy remain competitive as well as attract and keep talent from across the country,” the report said.
“Ontario’s film and TV industries are highly competitive and we must continue to compete to attract new and innovative talent and businesses.”
It was released Wednesday.
The institute’s report came at the same time that the province announced a pilot program for Ontario’s movie theatres.
It will open the doors to movies in the fall, with the province investing $50 million in the new movie theatre.
